Tai Chi volunteers wanted
15 November 2021
CHIRP Community Health is looking for expressions of interest from potential volunteers to support their planned expansion of Tai Chi groups in 2022.
Janine Truscott is the Physiotherapist at CHIRP who started the Tai Chi program in 1998.
“Over the years we have delivered volunteer led Tai Chi groups in various locations in Mount Alexander Shire, and we have now recommenced a group in Newstead. Beginners and more experienced students are all welcome to attend our Tai Chi group on Thursdays from 9.30am to 10.30am at the Newstead Community Centre”.
“Our Tai Chi groups are very popular and provide enormous health benefits to participants. We currently run Tai Chi groups in Castlemaine, Maldon, Guildford and Newstead, but are hoping to extend groups to other locations,” said Janine.
“Our Tai Chi volunteers are provided with full training and are supported by me and some of our more experienced volunteers. We are planning to run the volunteer training early in 2022.”
“Suitable applicants should have the confidence and dedication to lead weekly groups. Experience with Tai Chi is not necessary but would be an advantage.”
The expansion of Tai Chi groups is funded by Healthy Heart of Victoria and the Victorian State Government and supported by Mount Alexander Shire Council.
