Diabetes Outreach Service
The diabetes educators are able to provide an outreach education and support service to organisations in Mount Alexander Shire.
Castlemaine Health
In a collaborative partnership with Castlemaine Health, the staff from the hospital may refer inpatients/Residents to the Diabetes Nurse Educators for review and assessment. This enhances seamless transition from hospital to home.
Diabetes Nurse Educators also provide education in-services to hospital staff on a regular basis.
Schools
Families and schools can request visits by the Diabetes Nurse Educators to provide general education and information to teaching staff and student groups.
If a school has a student with type-1 diabetes, they are advised to undertake Diabetes in Schools Education available through Bendigo Health.
This is available for both primary and secondary schools in the Mount Alexander Shire.
Prisons
Prison staff can request individual or group education sessions for staff and/or clients as needed.
