About the Strength Training Program
Strength Training program is a low to moderate intensity exercise program which involve structured group based exercises that are both sitting and standing.
The purpose of the Strength Training program is to maintain or improve strength, balance and mobility. All Strength Training sessions are guided by either the Exercise Physiologist or the Physiotherapist, who provide exercises and assistance throughout the session.
Who is eligible to join?
The Strength Training exercise group is appropriate for anyone looking to improve their strength, balance and mobility. There are multiple groups that run during the week which are arranged by level of fitness and function. For new participants, the most appropriate group is determined during the one-on-one assessment with the Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist.
How to join?
Before entering the group, new participants are required to complete a one-on-one assessment with the Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist. This assessment will allow the Exercise Physiotherapist or Physiotherapist to determine the most appropriate Strength Training group for you to achieve your health and fitness goals.
No referral is needed to book an assessment. Although, if you have chronic conditions or are taking medications, a GP referral or a list of current conditions and medications is helpful for the assessment process.
The assessment will include some physical activity, so we encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and show that allow you range of motion to complete simple exercises i.e. walking.
What is the cost?
The cost for the Strength Training Program is $5.00 per session
