PD Heroes for Parkinson’s Disease

About the PD Heroes Program

PD Heroes is an exercise program designed for people with Parkinson’s disease which is based on the concept of Neuroplasticity of the human brain.

The program uses activity, thought and movement to stimulate dormant circuitry in the brain which drives neuroplastic change. This approach has been pioneered by Australian Neurophysiotherapists and is well supported by research in the field.

What can you expect?

This is a fun and stimulating program where each participant is provided individual tasks that is parallel with their performance and difficulty level.

Participants are supervised by the CHIRP Community Health physiotherapist and assisted by registered volunteers throughout the class. Participants can also choose to bring a relative or friend as an exercise buddy in the class.

For new participants, an initial assessment is required. This is provided by the CHIRP Community Health physiotherapist for each person prior to starting the program.

What is the cost?

The cost for the PD Program is $50.00 for a term. There are 10 sessions in one term.

For the individual assessment prior to joining the program, there is a one off cost of $10.00.

CHIRP UP!

SAVE OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES

For 35 years, the communities of Mount Alexander Shire have known who to turn to when they need help.

Sadly, CHIRP may not be around to turn to in future.

Government funding has not kept pace with the rising cost of delivering community health services.
This is happening everywhere, but smaller rural services like ours are the hardest hit.

We need a commitment from the Victorian Government, so we can maintain our services
and not be forced to close our doors.

Support a community model of health and let CHIRP get on with delivering vital services for our community
