Living Stronger Exercise Program to be extended

Our Living Stronger program is to be extended as part of the Australian Government’s Move It AUS Better Ageing Grant through Sport Australia.

Julie Gittus, the Move It project officer says the project aims to support people aged 65 years and over to become more active. ‘Research shows a clear link between improvements to physical health with mental well-being and social connectedness,’ she said.  ‘This simply translates to a better quality of life’.

There is also scope within the Move It program to offer support for those who face challenges in attending a group exercise class.

‘Our proposal was to offer more Living Stronger groups, including new locations, within Mount Alexander Shire,’ said Julie.  ‘We are now seeking suitably qualified group leaders who are passionate about improving the physical health and well-being of older people within our community. We hope to have the extended program running by mid-February.’

You can register your interest to attend a Living Stronger Move It exercise group by emailing Julie at: jgittus@cdch.com.au

Julie will contact you with a proposed schedule of times when the group program and venues have been finalised.
