Enjoy some flora and fauna.

28 February 2023

A free guided tour of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens Flora and Fauna Reserve will be held on Thursday 30th of March and everyone is invited to come along.

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Natural Environment Officer Matt McEachran will lead the stroll around this lesser-known part of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens.

This Flora and Fauna Reserve in the north-western section of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, is of national significance for supporting a population of the endangered Eltham Copper Butterfly. It also has other important ecological features and is a valued community asset.”, said Matt McEachran from council.

The gentle hour-long walk is organised by Dhelkaya Health as part of their regular monthly series of walks.

“We’d love to see our regular participants and warmly welcome any new guests. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get out into nature, socialise, and hear about this part of the Botanical Gardens,” said Liza Shaw from Dhelkaya Health.
